Planting a Seed FFA Grant Program

The Iowa FFA Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the "Planting a Seed" FFA grant program as a joint partnership between Iowa Food & Family Project, Iowa FFA Foundation and Pioneer Hi-Bred - a DuPont business.  As there is a growing need within agriculture for the development of leaders who can face the challenges coming in agriculture of feeding, clothing and providing shelter for growing population, FFA Chapters across Iowa are now eligible to apply for up to $1,500 to promote more than 300 careers in the food, fiber and natural resource fields within agriculture.  This program seeks to highlight programs that are innovative and unique, while attracting those who may not have otherwise thought of a career in agriculture.

The application, only 12 questions after applicant information, will allow a selection committee of five the opportunity to seek out the 5 chapters who they feel will do the best job promoting and recruiting students to be a part of this “in-demand” profession.  Once the chapters have completed their programs, a final program report will be due on or before March 31, 2011. While the report summarizes the great successes the chapter has achieved with the initial investment, it will also serve as a second application to become the STATE WINNING chapter, earning an additional $1,500 and a plaque, awarded during the Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference April 23-24, 2012 in Ames.

Applications are now due JANUARY 6, 2012!
