History

Established in 1986, the Iowa FFA Foundation is a non-profit foundation created to provide financial support to agricultural education organizations in Iowa.

Originally housed at Mitchellville, the Iowa FFA Foundation moved to its new location in the FFA Enrichment Center located on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) campus in Ankeny in 2010.

The Iowa FFA Foundation works with different entities to acquire financial support that primarily benefits educational programs developed by the Iowa FFA Association, Iowa FFA Alumni & Supporters Association, Professional Agricultural Students of Iowa, and the Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators. The Foundation also has vital roles in supporting the development of advanced educational programs to providing recognition of excellence in the areas of agriscience, agribusiness, and production agriculture. Through contributions of dedicated time and financial resources, the Iowa FFA Foundation has strived to prepare Iowa’s most valuable resource - its young people - by assisting in the development of their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.

Structure

The Iowa FFA Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors that develops policies, sets priorities, and oversees the management of the foundation. It also relies on a volunteer Sponsoring Committee consisting of business and industry leaders to assist with securing financial support. All volunteer members of the Board of Directors and its committees serve without salary. The Board of Directors is composed of agricultural business/industry representatives, agricultural education teachers, the current and past state FFA presidents, FFA Alumni members, Professional Agricultural Students Organization (PAS) representatives, Iowa Department of Education staff members, and the foundation's executive director.
